Walter Alester Cartagena Andrade, 25, was taken into custody on Tuesday, March 7 after being identified as the suspect accused of stabbing a 22-year-old man on Jan. 18, 2023, according to Prince William County police.

Andrade is accused of stabbing the victim in the upper body the morning of Jan. 18, in a parking lot in the 13900 block of Richmond Highway in Woodbridge.

The victim went to a nearby local business for help after the stabbing, with responding officers providing first aid until medics arrived.

Medics airlifted the victim to an area hospital where he was stabilized.

The investigation suggested that the victim and Andrade were in an argument that turned physical, resulting in the stabbing. Andrade fled the scene directly after the stabbing, and an arrest warrant was granted on Feb. 2, 2023.

Andrade was charged with aggravated malicious wounding.
